FOURTH SEASON
Literature-to-Life

These events, primarily from New York's American Place Theatre are hour-long performances of excerpts from or abridgements of books. Each includes a pre- and post-show discussion with a teaching artist from American Place. This year, for the first time, we have exhausted the titles of American Place and, so, have added two new programs to the series, one an author portrayal, The Night Before Christmas Carol, and the other, an author reading by Ilene Beckerman. We also have our first Living Library program from American place — three book offerings of great American literature — Southern Voices, featuring William Faulkner’s As I Lay Dying; Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston; and Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird. Events presented this season are: Southern Voices; Down These Mean Streets; The Night Before Christmas Carol; A reading by Ilene Beckerman, author of Love, Loss and What I Wore; and The Kite Runner.

To encourage participation, audience will be limited to approximately 200.

12 Noon, the third Tuesday of October, November, December, March and May. All tickets: $10

More events for upper grades (7 & up)
In addition to our fourth season of Literature-to-Life events we
are very pleased to offer a new series of noon-time, on-stage events known in the evenings as Club 28 four of which are music and one of which is improvised comedy. These events are, Dave Leonhardt Trio, Shake it Up, PROJECT Trio, Guy Davis and Tom Chapin.

School-Time Performances a resource for educators

And, as hard as it is to believe, it is time to move on to the year ahead. Today we announce the events scheduled for our 2011-2012 School-Time Performances series. We are very proud to offer what we consider to be top quality educational field trips. We hope that you agree.
