The Mystical Arts of Tibet
Saturday, Apr.23 at 8PM
Tickets: $25 & $35
The Mystical Arts of Tibet tours, featuring the famed multiphonic singers of Drepung Loseling monastery, have taken the world by storm. Endorsed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama as a means of promoting world peace and healing through sacred performing art, they have performed in many of America's greatest theaters and music halls. Join us in the days leading up to the performance to watch as the monks create a sand mandala. From all the artistic traditions of Tantric Buddhism, painting with colored sand ranks as one of the most unique and exquisite. In Tibetan this art is called dul-tson-kyil-khor, which literally means "mandala of colored powders." Millions of grains of sand are painstakingly laid into place on a flat platform over a period of days.
Our mandala theme survey is now closed and your choice was overwhelmingly for Compassion. Thank you so much to all who cast a vote! And, for those who signed up to participate in our local sand painting, which will take place between 4/19 and 4/22, we will contact you by email soon with further details.
