From the first novel about contemporary Afghanistan to be written in English, this performance portrays the relationship of two boys—Amir, a privileged Pashtun and Hassan, a Hazara servant.  Surprising events occur before the backdrop of tumultuous 1970's Afghanistan.

Stage has always been a powerful medium for story telling... I thank The American Place Theatre for selecting the story of Amir and Hassan, two boys who lived in my mind and are dear to my heart.  I am grateful and thrilled.
